Default Trip Report with Pictures - August 13-27, 2011

On August 12th, my wife Susie and I headed to Bonaire for our eighth visit. After an easy and eventless connection from Houston we arrived on the morning of August 13th. As usual, a smiling Poppy from Telerin greeted us as we exited the baggage area with keys in hand for our pickup truck. We then headed over to Den Laman and checked in for two weeks at what has become our home away from home. After dive orientation, a trip to the Warehouse for groceries, and assembly of dive and photo gear, our trip was officially underway. We dove with BDA (Bonaire Dive and adventure). BDA has a sweet new policy – 24 hour access to tanks and the gear locker! BDA is also right next to Den Laman, which is super convenient. The diving conditions were excellent on our trip. The water was a warm 85 degrees and visibility was generally very good. We had a few days where the winds stopped and reversed. We were able to dive the Light House in glassy calm conditions with no current, as well as Red Slave. We’ve been working on pictures and will shortly have a gallery posted at http://www.ricksusie.com where some of our previous trips can currently be seen. Hopefully, I figured out how to post pictures here at the new Bonairetalk. Here’s a few from our trip (fingers crossed):

Wow! I can't wait to see all of the photos on your website. Fantastic photography. Now I am even more pumped up about our trip to Bonaire in April 2012! Thanks, Jim.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Kob and Matthewc - I use a Canon EOS 20d in an Aquatica Housing with dual Inon Strobes. For Macro I use a Canon 60mm macro lens, I sometimes also shoot wide angle with a Canon 10-22 lens. Susie uses an Olympus SP-350 with Inon wet connect lenses. She can stack macro lenses to get super close, or go wide angle.
