What is the cost and time line to ship items to Bonaire via Rocargo? We are looking at things like bedding, furniture, electronics, appliances, etc. from Home Depot, Ikea, or similar stores. From what I have read it is possible to ship to Florida and then on to Bonaire. Once the receive the items in Miami how long does it take for them to get the items to Bonaire?.

I have used that method for shipping "stuff" to Bonaire for several years .

Sometimes the total transition is dicey , sometimes it is as expected.

Items that arrive at the Amcar site in Miami before 4pm on Tuesday , will be packed
in the weekly container to Bonaire .
Once the container sails on Thursday it takes about 10 days to reach Bonaire , but the customs formalities
and the unpacking of the container may take a few more days .
A good estimate is 12 to 14 days after the sailing from Bonaire before you take possession at Rocargo .

I ship many items directly to Amcar from Amazon , Home Depot ( buy from the Miami store directly) and
misc . furniture vendors . I use , and it seems to work most of the time , an address label like
AMCAR BON +( your last name )
then the street address for Amcar . The Amazon standard address method allows only a single line for the name
of the company/person .
With that informative address label the warehouse technicians at Amcar know how to dispatch the item.
It is good practise to send an email with the invoice ( purchase price /receipt ) and tracking info to
Remember , Amcar serves many islands and since thousands of items arrive every week , don't let
your item be lost in their warehouse.

Good Luck

Once your stuff arrives here, you will go to Rocargo and pay for the shipping, import tax, etc. Then you need to arrange for delivery to your home. Rocargo can do it, for a fee, or you can do it yourself or hire someone.

We have shipped a total household to bonaire back in 2009 and had our own private container.
How does Rocargo know that the stuff inside the community container is yours?

You ship things to your name, plus BONAIRE in care of AMCAR Freight in Miami. for more details go to www.amcarfreight.com

In order to insure it is shipped to you, you also need to send an e-mail to Mercy Merimon and give her the shipment tracking number for what you have sent PLUS all of the invoices what you are shipping to Bonaire. Mercy will do all of the export documentation for your shipment (that's why she needs the invoices), and them ROCARGO will take care of all of the import documentation, including the import duty (why they need the invoices). ROCARGO will normally call you when your shipment arrives and then you go to ROCARGO and pay for your shipment. FYI: your shipping costs include charges for export docs, import docs, insurance, freight and import duty of 8% on the purchase cost PLUS sales tax plus shipping.
