Just purchased a Canon G16 camera, anyone have input on which is the best houseing to use, Ikelite, Fantasea. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We've had a Recsea WHC-G16 (http://www.recsea.com/whc-g16.html) for just over a year, and it is highly reliable and easy to use. We also have the G12 model, which performed like a champ for 3 years and is still like new. Recsea is rated to 328' (100m) vs only 200' (60m) for the others. IMO the Recsea is more rugged, compact & more ergonomic than the boxier Ikelite, its cold shoe mount on top makes it easy to affix a focus light, and the black housing and strobe mask prevent leakage from internal flash when using external(s). While we don't come close to the depth limits, we have been known to lose footing on entry/exit and the housing has withstood some major bumps without incident. Fantasea is newer to the Canon accessory market - will defer to others on how that's going. For G16 shots from Bonaire, see Meredith's 2014 work at http://www.reeftraveler.com - mine are mostly with the Recsea S120.

I am using the Canon WP-DC 52 housing and like it just fine.
I am using an INON Z 240 strobe connected via fiber optic and it works perfectly.
Two downsides to this housing; adjusting shutter speed and aperture are a real pain while the camera is housed.
Work around for me is to shoot in "Tv" or shutter priority mode.

I am now considering a new Canon cam, G16 or G7x and attendant housings from Canon and Fantasea. The Fantasea reviews I've read are positive and the housing controls are well marked. I've used a Canon S95 in the Canon housing for 4 plus years and hundreds of dives without problems or floods so I have nothing against plastic housings. The Fantasea has a moisture warning system and dual o'rings. It IS a little big and I'm sure major floaty! I see the Fantasy FG16 as low as $300. and that I like. Now, if only Canon had some G16 refurb cams to sell.

Several other places online for cheaper but all seem to be scams of one sort or another.
No refers to be found, at least by me.
