Snorkeled Bari Reef late afternoon & were delighted to see the amount of fish and variety, especially around the pier at the dive shop just south of Sand Dollar and then at the sunken pier south of that.

We love Bari Reef - went last year every day when we stayed at Den Laman! We never saw any squid, but we'll be looking for them this time!

When I snorkeled at Bari, there was a huge barracuda hanging out under BDA's dive pier next door. Look for him/her next time you snorkel there!

Bari reef is our favorite snorkel also. Last February there was often an octopus hanging out on the sunken pier. Since the hurricanes you really have to go to Klein for good coral, but there are plenty of good fish sites along the west side. We took our first trip on the Woodwind last winter and wondered why we hadn't done it years ago. That will definitely be an every year thing for us now.

If you snorkel Bari reef, do not overlook the stand of large elkhorn coral on rocks extending into the water from the north end of the "platform" (rapidly disintegrating) in front of Sand Dollar. Elkhorn coral is fairly rare on Bonaire where it was once abundant. The water at the Bari reef site is very shallow and the coral only inches below the surface. Lots of fish around and under the coral and the rocks. Just be careful and avoid damaging it.
