July 7-14 it was pretty bad down south. Maybe 50-60 at best down deep. Could barely see the outer reef at the lake, HH, where it is pretty close. Hope someone has a better viz comment more recent.

Thanks ten,

I saw your trip report as well. Did anyone you talked with comment about the northern sites? Someone said on another board that the viz has been lousy for months. Wondering what's up!!

Well the guys at Carib Inn (one of Bruce's staff) said that the wind was REALLY whipping late June early July right before I arrived and that was their reasoning. I have heard from a few that North was a tad better.

Coming in we swim along the bottom looking under little coral and bushes for seahorses. and looking back I lost sight my wife when she stopped to take a pic. Mind u we were in a group of 6 and had a buddy with her. Pt being Viz in shallows from Lake-Toriis was maybe 20-30 at best when we scuba in. Snorkeling you can see down better.

Hmmm. I must have been diving a different ocean lately. We dove Vista Blue yesterday & was able to clearly see the surface at 80 feet. Beautiful dive with copious amounts of gorgeous soft coral and the largest turtle I've seen on this trip. The viz changes sometimes dramatically in the shallows because of direction of current, wind etc. Like the ocean itself, It's always changing.

Thanks Vince!

Further out the viz is better like Vince said. Yesterday I could see a dive boat above from 75ft at Webers Joy. Coming in i lost my wife for a few seconds in 20 feet of water. Things should be worse for the next few days as Ernesto passes just north.

The northern dive sites were pretty good the past 3 weeks. Southwest dive sites, not as good and churned up more - maybe 40 to 60 feet max.

I just had 80 to 100 foot vis at the invisibles. Temp is a nice 82 degrees according to my suunto gecko.
