We are heading down to Bonaire soon and were thinking of doing an afternoon 1 tank dive with East coast diving. I have not seen any recent reviews or comments regarding East Coast or taking a boat dive on the east side. Would welcome feedback and comments from others who have been out with East Coast recently and on their experience diving the east side by boat. Thanks.

Hi tkaelin -- we dived with Bonaire East Coast Diving in Sept. 2010 on their inflatable and had a great time. Did Funchi's Reef and White Hole ... both were great dives. More turtles than you can count on Funchi's Reef and tarpon & eagle rays at White Hole. They were flexible, on time and really fun to dive with. Have a great time !!

I second Rog & Karen ... if you are looking for east coast shore dives, contact Bas Tol. We made several east side shore dives with Bas last September. Some can be challenging like Boca Onima, others not so bad, depending on the surf. Bas is the east coast guru. If you get a chance, do a night dive at Cai with him. You'll be amazed.

The boat diving on the east coast is terrific. I've done it several times, and always enjoyed it. I'm not that big a fan of the White Hole, but if you've never seen a huge school of tarpon close up, you should do it at least once. The boat diving is much easier for most folks than shore diving, but if you want to go from shore be absolutely sure to get a good guide, like Bas Tol!

Be advised that many folks on Bonaire Talk apparently only shore dive, and thus may tend to play down boat diving. But boat diving will get you to some places you can't get to from shore, and for some folks makes their diving enough easier that they prefer the boats (for example bad backs, big cameras, low strength). Bonaire has terrific shore dives....but doing only shore dives misses some of the good spots.

Hey there, I have done it. But not with the new owners, I would do a morning dive, afternoon could get rough. I loved the drift dive but i think am is better.

We did two dives with East Coast Divers a few weeks ago and had a great time. Lots of turtles, eagles rays and a large nurse shark. Well worth the 15 minute drive across the island!

Calicant, where did they take you? The mouth of Lac Bay and the Blue Hole? :hummm:
