Pelican Reef House is great. Walk into the water and you are on the reef at Something Special

Welcome to BT, Grace. I would start here.

Look in your price range. There is not a bad choice that I can think of. Consider a resort like Eden Beach or the Divi, the later has excellent snorkeling.

One thing about Bonaire you really want to rent a truck/car to get around. The driving is easy and little traffic, it will open many possiblities for snorkeling, eating out and exploring.

We are also only snorkelers and always stay at Divi in a timeshare unit. The snorkeling off the dive pier was great this year going in either direction. Also, we always take at least 4 trips on the Woodwind with Dee. She and her crew are the best and it is a very comfortable snorkel wherever they go.

gracels,
you're asking for a quiet place. Not thinking Divi as quiet place but I guess it depends on how you define quiet. I'd say same about sand dollar but its all good on Bonaire.

Waterlands village is very small and quiet. It is a short walk to good snorkeling. Even though it is across from the airport the plane
noise is not a problem.

And if you want to splurge -- take a good look at Harbour Village. The beach is to die for, and my wife snorkels 3-4 hours a day right there. Last year, she saw a huge variety of eels, a pair of sea horses, a (bunch/pod/group/gaggle) of dolphins, a turtle, and, of course, the usual suspects. And generally dead quiet... We are going for our 11th stay in three weeks. It isn't a cheap date, but if we don't spend it, the kids or Uncle Sam get it.

Please check out the Beachcomber Villas (although I don't know what their availability is - they're sold out for the upcoming months). We're going back in June/July and can't wait. Could be exactly what you are looking for: quiet, good snorkeling at the Cliff site in front, swimming pool in back, excellently appointed, terrific hosts. http://www.vrbo.com/350432 and http://www.bonairebeachcombervillas.com/

http://www.vrbo.com/259956 this condo is owned by snorklers. It is very quiet, even if you think the airport "must" be an issue. It is not. In walking distance you can snorkel the Windsock beach and swim to the Plaza house reef. The channel in between has amazing (bigger) fish, too. We stayed there and loved it more than our Sand Dollar places we had stayed before in. If you want to take a boat to Klein (other than the Woodwind, a must !!) the property has a DFB location/ pier on the property and daily trips. They take snorklers, too.

Bonaire Oceanfront apartments get my vote. Going for a month Saturday. The night snorkeling out front is great--full of critters!
