We recently returned from a week of diving with our family of six. We needed a large villa to accomodate 4 adult children and all of our dive gear. We stayed at Kaya Turkesa 22 but it had several problems...no hot water/no water pressure, lack of basic cleaning, maintenance issues and major problems with bugs/spiders in bedrooms.

We alerted Paradise Rentals about our concerns and they did repeatedly try to solve the problems; however, they did acknowledge that in spite of their best efforts it was not up to their standards. Rob Laurant, director/owner of Paradise Rentals, graciously offered to relocate us to Crown Ridge #13 for the remaining 3 days of our trip.

It saved the trip from being a disaster of bug bites and sleepless nights into a positive experience with lots of laughter. With 30 minutes notice to relocate (who checks their e-mails between dives??) picture a dive truck loaded with 10 tanks, dive gear, luggage and carry-ons, refrigerator items, food and six adults piled on top. Visions and versions of The Beverly Hillbillies could be heard as we happily unloaded and managed to catch a beautiful sunset overlooking Andrea I.

We realize that in spite of best intentions sometimes rentals do not live up to what is promised on-line. However, Mr. Laurant was most professional in handling the matter and we certainly appreciate him understanding that the conditions we encountered were not acceptable. His company and associates are to be commended for doing the right thing. We would certainly recommend them (www.rentalsbonaire.com (http://www.rentalsbonaire.com)) as they were honest and fair in resolving the situation.

Cornhusker, glad you were able to salvage your vacation and have a positive attitude about it...any pics from the vacation to share?

Paradise Rentals may have resolved your issues by moving you, but that seems a very small and inadequate gesture. It is their responsibility to their clients to ensure properties are up to their standards before you arrive and not after.

Unexpected things like broken A/C or applicances happen all the time, but bugs and dirt are totally within the control of the rental company and there are no excuses for not ensuring it was up to the most basic standards prior to your arrival.
