View Full Version : Leatherback Turtle off Klein Bonaire

Was on a drift boat dive off Klein Bonaire two days ago when I spotted a very large turtle lift off the reef and swim out to the blue. My dive partners did not see it as just at that time the other lady in our group had a problem with her mask and my husband and her husband were trying to help her fix the problem. When we got back I described the turtle to the Divemaster who confirmed that it was a leatherback turtle. I understand that they are very rare to see in Bonaire and the last one was back in 2008. We dropped in at Ebo's and it was between there and Jerry's Reef. The turtle was very large, all gray with a square body and raised ridges running down both sides of it's body.
