It's with a glad heart and great joy that I can now formally share with all of you that we have definitely found a sponsor - actually sponsors in plural - to help keep the world-famous Bonaire WebCams going.

Our sponsors in this effort are:

We think the fact that three separate businesses came together to make this happen is really very much in the spirit of the Bonaire WebCams and Bonaire itself - namely a community working together toward a common goal.

I will say that your e-mails asking for support for the WebCams had a profound effect on getting this to happen. Thank you all very much!

The plan is that the WebCams will still go dark on June 20th, and if all goes smoothly, no more than a few weeks (we're hoping for less than two weeks, actually) later they will go live again at Eden Beach (WannaDive is the on-property dive operation, and Bongo's is the on-property bar & restaurant). More on the schedule and location of each of the cams as our plans solidify.

I'll start a separate thread with information for individual sponsors.

Gosh! Even though I'm a very busy person, I'm still going to miss the cams while they're down. We'll have a great reason to celebrate when they COME ALIVE again!

I met Bart and Bob from WannaDive and I am impressed by them. I enjoyed meeting them and they were very helpful during my first trip to Bonaire. (Bob also directed us to the first seahorse I saw diving.)

I have enjoyed sitting with a crowd having a few at Bongos which is now the future home of the bar cam.

Something else to consider, if lots of people (BTers) stay at Eden Beach now, it will be a BIG party every night at Bongos with the BT people... like a Gibis, but every night. It will be a great central location for everyone to stay and get together in the evenings after diving, without having to drive back to your hotel.

Sue~ If I remember correctly, Eden Beach resort is kind of hard to find. Their driveway is a little dirt road adjacent to the north side of Harbour Village but south of the traffic circle. They do have a sign out by the main street, but you cannot really see the resort from the road.

We never would have known it existed had it not been for the fact that my husband dove with Wally & Eva's son, Joey, last summer and that is where we picked him up and dropped him off.

Anybody, feel free to correct me if I am mistaken!

I have been away from this site for many months and have just now checked in to see what's happening. From the threads I have read so far, seems like you have had a lot going on.
We will be on Bonaire July 1-12, staying at Belmar for a few days, then at Harbour Village. From the above news, I'm wondering if the cams will be up and running at the new location while we are there.
I'm assuming this means that all the webcam addicts will be hanging at Bongos. Linda will probably be happy that it means keeping the riff-raff out of your back yard.

Hi Jan!

We are hoping that we'll have the Cams up by July 3rd, as I think that's when Dan leaves to go back to the U.S.

The only issue still to resolve is getting some sort of Internet access in place by June 28th.

It certainly will result in a quieter life for us at our new home in any event :-)

Definitely look us up (or come by Eden Beach on July 1st - I'm sure Dan and I will be there all day, no doubt).
