OMG...I was so looking forward to this Saturday, and getting to meet all of you. I just got home from Boston and I came down with a nasty chest
congestion and sinus infection (along with a sinus headache) during the week. I think I am probably run down from the lack of sleep and 14 cities in 4 weeks. I have to get on another airplane again on Sunday afternoon, so need to try to pamper myself with some rest tomorrow. I am sooooo sorry that we won't be able to make it...

Have a wonderful weekend, eat lots of good food, drink lots of good wine and have lots of stories and pictures to post on BT for me to pout about!

Karen & Roger Huff

P.S. I picked up 4 refrigerator magnets in Baltimore that I was going to bring with me this weekend:
1. WINE - the 5th basic food group
2. Forgive me for I have ZINNED
3. I cook with WINE! Sometimes I even put it in the food!
4. WINE improves with age. The older I get, the more I like it!

Hello Freddie, Judy, Roy, Mara and everyone!!!
It was indeed a wonderful evening...
I taught Eric how to make a proper martini and then he discovered the joys of Baileys :-)
Eric, Babs,Cynde, Barbara, Rosanne
* Pictured from left to right: Eric, Babs, Cynde, Barbara and RosAnne

Cynde spent the evening with a special new friend, who took comfort within her bosom :-)
* Pictured from left to right: Mercy, Cynde & her friend Napolean, RosAnne
why doesn't he fall down into her shirt??

It's a little after 1am - the kitchen is as clean as it will get tonight
nothing like a galley kitchen

and my Little Guy has followed the lead of my Big Guy :-)
like father like son!

Babs, Mercy, RosAnne and I are meeting for breakfast tomorrow (and Rasta) at 10am, then we're all meeting at the dive shop at noon to assess the dive conditions. We'll head up to Refugio State Park for a little diving, snorkeling, kayaking and so much more :-)

So Good Night from the Left Coast.... until tomorrow :-)

A few questions if I may:

1. (for Michael) Where are your Kitty glasses?
2. (for Barbara) How much peroxide did that take? SNORT
3. (for Tara) How long have you had my Riley's twin?
4. (for Freddy and Judy) How are your heads this morning?

Hugs to you all (except Michael, he only likes handshakes from guys)!!

Gail - that is EXACTLY what I thought too - looks like there is some praying going on....

Oh Lord, if you are merciful, please don't let me be hungover in the morning. Allow me to function and feel at least semi human. Of this I pray.

The bad thing about Sunday hangovers is that my "old" cure was not allowed. Chicken & cheese biscuits from Chic-Fil-A and a large Coke, light on the ice. For those who don't know Chic-Fil-A, which is a franchise, is not open on Sundays.

Oh well - we look forward to more pics.

Have a fantabulous day!!!

Just walked in the door from one of the BEST weekends ever!! Thanks so much Tara and Guy for hosting this BT event. What a great group of people...we all just seemed to click so well.

From the moonlight sail on Fri night (ok...I got just a little seasick!) to the amazing BBQ (tri tip, rockin' bbq beans, delish rice dish, yummy grilled portabellos, rasberry chipotle chicken, chips, dips and whips (ok, there were no whips!) key lime pie and mint brownies-oh god, look out, she's gonna blow!)to the all chick breakfast to the snorkel and dive at Hendri's Beach (my first snorkel ever in Cali!)and GREAT NEW FRIENDS.....What a weekend!!!!!!

I'm sure some of us will post more pics...I'm still trying to figure out how to do that! C'mon girls...we know there are some pics that maybe we DON'T want to post..but the adoring jealous crowd wants more, more, more!!

Took me 5 hours to get home, Thank you Guy and Tara for being wonderful hosts! I am so tired but wanted everyone to know how much fun we had.Met a group of really awesome people and I believe to have made some lasting friends! Will post tomorrow, hopefully with more pictures! Had an interesting drive home, just to name a few things, travelling 80 mph and had to come to a dead stop because a chicken was crossing the road (I am NOT making this up!) and then there was the chair, lamp and yard ornaments to avoid that fell off the trailer that tipped over when it came unhitched from the truck that was pulling it! Gotta love this place!!! Night-Night.

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, or at least send them to someone smart enough to do so.

Rosanne, Eric, CB, took us 2.5 hours to get home! Not even close to the 4.5 hours it took to get up there! go figure! We were thinking it would take us at least 5 or 6 to get home! It was a nice surprise! But what was even a nicer surprise was that the house was not flooded or burned down. It as clean, all the dogs were in one piece, and the house was in very good shape. It was Dylon's first time HOME ALONE...I was a nervous wreck, but he did a great job. I'm very proud of him (well, I've found no evidence so far...lol!)

Rosanne, what a nightmare drive...ick! Babs, glad you made it home ok:-)

We made such wonderful new friends, and had such a good time catching up with old friends. Tara and Guy rock. Thank you soooooooo much for planning this and opening up your wonderful home to us. Their Iguana bar is beautiful. The Santa Barbara mountains in the background is STUNNING. The full moon setting over the fire pit Saturday night was breath taking. We laughed a lot, had some good conversations, and really had a wonderful time. The dive yesterday was good. We were talking about it afterward, and I said, I'd come up here again and dive this again when we come see Tara and Guy, I've had a lot WORSE dives...lol! Vis was about 15 feet no? (I'm a horrible judge of distance).

Mercy did her FIRST ever California snorkel...GO MERCY! I got a picture of her coming out of the water:-)

Gotta get ready for that work thing. I'm going to try to download my pics and hopefully post them sometime tonight. Mercy, if you need help, just email me the pics and I can post them for you:-)

Thanks again Tara and Guy for being the best hosts and bringing new friends together!

Yup! It was a great time :-) It was amazing how much the weather cooperated too! We couldn't have asked for nicer evenings and days.

We stayed at the beach till sunset last night and I'm ashamed to say it was the first time we've done that all summer (ouch). I told Guy that I can't wait to get back in the water! We're going to try to go again next weekend - of course we probably won't have such pristine conditions!

I know there were some great pictures taken over the weekend ----- I can't wait to see them all :-)

Thanks to all of you West Coast BTrs who made the trek - Roger & Karen you were there in spirit and we will definitely do this again. I hope you're feeling better Karen - there's nothing like the power of rest :-)

Off to walk Rasta (who, btw, was such a good girl ~ I'm the proudest Mama!).

Tribs, what's the "RD" for?

Here we are at Dinner on Friday night:-)
Dinner at Endless Summer

Here we are after the moonlit sunset cruise. We decided to have them take a pic of the back of the t-shirts. Now, you may ask why Mercy is has the back graphic on the front...I forgot to put the front graphic in her package, so she didn't know where it was supposed to go...that's our story and we're stickin' to it:-)
backs

The restaurant and warf has the Maritime Museum there, and there was this old submarine. We were all getting prepared for the moonlight cruise, putting on our "silly hats" and I took this pic. I think Timmy needs to photoshop this into a Bill Murray "Life Aquatic" scene...they do look like they could be part of his crew...Michael didn't smile because he said that Nomads didn't smile...lol!

My favorite part of the dive was the place where natural gas was seeping through the bottom...looked like dive bubbles seeping out of a cave. Very science fiction; we looked for the space ship til we needed to get to shore.

He did sort of keep freaking us all out. I think this must have been when Eric was telling Michael about when he got bitten (and nearly eaten by the 16 foot great white) in 1991...real story folks...big bite out of his leg, and arm...and he's got the scars to prove it! He was surfing...unbelievable. But I'll let CB tell the story, he's her BF:-)

O..M..G...I finally had time to read this thread from top to bottom...yesterday was sort of a blur trying to post some pics...Freddie, Judy...you ladies have CLASS...I know who I'm going to come and have happy hour with when I come to the right coast:-)

tom, uh...where's the pic of your uh...iron on's??? lol. When I get more ink, all mods will get iron ons...but I have to buy more ink first...lol. Oh, and I will make sure I put the front pocket iron on in them:-)

Jerry, I think you need to post the pic of you and Caymus with your shirts on this thread.

I put the pic of the faceless "BT'er" there for any of you photoshop togs (I really don't know what "tog" means but I think it means "guru"...no?) to put any bt'er face on there that would be fun...SSG, Timmy, Mara, Freddie, Martini, "J", you know, anyone who has ever posted their face on BT...lol....wouldn't that be fun? I wish I was good at photoshop. Anyone know of a good photoshop online class? I'm thinking of cutting back on some of my volunteer activities so I have more time for things that would be more relaxing and fun (some of the things I volunteer for right now are just not so much fun anymore...ya know?) ;-)

I'll try to get more pics up today:-)

Can you believe I messed up my CD of photos? What century am I living in? I'll try again before I go face the world this morning, but maybe I can email you a couple while it is still relevant.
I wore my (washed) West Coast Meet t-shirt to teach diving last night. Oh, they were deeply impressed. Can you believe I was so busy packing stuff for the weekend that I forgot any other clothes? I lived in that shirt all weekend. I thought I'd go buy something else to wear, but I was too busy having fun to take the time.

What a great sunset shot! I really wish I could have been there. But at least I was able to knock out the Rescue water portion. Thanks again for the congrats. I really do appreciate it because I'm feeling a little wimpy with all of my aches and pains. I guess 16 hours of alternating rescuer and victim was a little much for me, but then I see the bruises and think - I EARNED this pain and the right to hurt! :-)

Even our virtual BT'er passed on the spam!
2 babs and spam

We went to get some ice and chips, and when we got back, I got hit with "Cynde, try this, you'll like it" kind of like "give it to Mikey he'll eat anything"...there were chunks of blue cheese by it, and I LOVE blue cheese, so I covered it with blue cheese and bit in. And then was asked to "honestly" give my opinion. Well, of course, I had no idea who brought it, what it was, and certainly didn't want to offend anyone so I said, "it's delicious." Then I was told it was SPAM!
OMG...I JUST ATE SPAM!!!

Here is my "polite shot" like Mercy's
spam and Martini's go with anything

just like (read the roll over in the pictures folks)
martini's go with anything. Also, notice the guy to my left. He's a swat team guy and a fire fighter, notice the cute little hello kitty thing he's holding in his hand, isn't it cute?

Here's Michael trying to imitate the virtual BTer...pretty good job.
Hi, My name is Michael. I probably see more of this virtual BT'er than I actually see of my wife. She spends a lot of time on BT

I dont' really know what to say about this one, other than, the tri tip was REALLY good...
gene simmons tri tip tongue

perfect BT'er - cell phone, lap top, martini...one question...does she or doesn't she...
does she or doesn't she have them on??? inquiring minds want to know Rosanne

I love this shot...this is Guy telling us his cool BUST story...we had a SHARK story...a cool BUST story...
we had some REAL men at this party, let me tell ya!!!

poor rasta, she is such a good little dog...we are all having a good time, and i swear, i thought that she left a little present under my chair...so I told boom and guy that i smelled poo...poor guy gets the flashlight...you know, you are having a party and think that your guest is going to step in poo...then i remember since i've been having this head thing...my olfactory system has been on over drive and said that she probably did it on the other side of the house...sure nuff...good little rasta did it 200 yards away:-)
good little rasta would not poo near her mom and dad's party

so, we all decided that i could get a job as a K-9 drug sniffing dog if i get desperate:-)

This is funny, we were in a shop along the warf on Friday night, and Boom was showing us these cute shirts her friend designs. They had these fur hats, so I called Mercy back to put one on, I looked at her and said "merCY" you have to say it with emphasis...anyway, the sales lady just looked at me like "OH MY"...I looked at her and said "well, that IS her name!" LOL!

You're all a great looking, fun sounding bunch. Every one of ya! (Boom don't worry, there were a couple of UG ones of me posted, but that's candid camera!)

Just one question..."What? No hula hoops?" lol

Sheesh, our party was over before dark (it ended at 8:00ish but the sun didn't set until, maybe 9:00). But neexxxxt time..... :-)

Kathy...lol...I get the white bits now...oh, and that ain't my diving bathing suit. I forgot it. I was actually in quite a quandry since my diva suit was all I had...lol...it was midnight saturday night, and none of us wanted to leave, but I was thinking about having to get up and actually drag my arse in the water by noon (which is early for me). Michael didn't even want to go! I think we could have stayed till 2 or 3 easily (although Boom and Guy were probably ready for us all to leave!) Rosanne brought this Napolean Dynomite doll. You'd push on his stomach and he'd pop out lines. Hysterical. I have it at work now. She also brought a Napoleon Dynomite Madlibs book, we never did get to that one!

It really looks like you all had a wonderful, wonderful time. And I do have to look for the ND Madlibs too. I missed Eric's lightening story...we'll have to save that one for next time:-) I asked Michael if he heard it and he said no, and had this look on his face like "he got hit by lightening too???"

Mara, too bad we missed meeting you at the beach:-(

I mean, it's going to be another one of those BAD grassbutter 10 pigmie pics that will forever haunt me, but it was just one of those sophmoric things that I just HAD to do. gawd i am going to hate myself in the morning for this...sigh...ok, here goes...when we were at the grocery store getting the veggies for the party, i saw this "thing." it is a veggie from costa rica. a squash. i picked it up and showed it to michael and said, boy, this thing looks like it is just a really ugly botox lips gone bad...i'm going to buy it as a joke and then we can all play with it later in the night. i had forgotten about it until around 11pm. and i saw it on the counter and started laughing...got all sophmoric on my own arse and TRIED to stuff the WHOLE thing in my mouth (which is not the pic below btw, i cut it up to try to fit the ugly lips part in my mouth)...and no, mass amounts of alcohol were not required for me to do this, i just get really stupid sometimes for my own entertainment value...lol...btw, this thing tasted really good raw if you ever see it in the store. it tasted like jicima (sp)...

the joke was, botox gone bad...scroll over please

It's the latest craze, everyone now wants the "Grassbutter Lips" instead of the Angelina Jolie lips!

While we were in the dive shop, Cynde handed me a bottle of wine and told me something but it was too chaotic and I didn't catch any of it.
I just remembered that it was in the fridge here at work and thought Guy & I might have a snort to round out the day, then I saw the price tag... not snorting wine :-)
Cynde, Thank You and just what was it you were trying to tell me that day??? (Watch it be something like, "Can you hold this for me? I need it back before we leave!")

OK - my mother used to make that from time to time. Fry it up in a pan and serve it though I can't remember if that was with eggs for breakfast or for dinner. But Mom was a depression era gal so this was some cheap and easy food. What a shame I won't be able to eat that now...

I have a pic of the pink flamingos that Tara had leading the way to her house (not easy to find if she didn't have them). They of course, were all stolen but one by the end of the night, right Boom? Also, CB, Rosanne, and Mercy, if there are pics you sent me and I didn't post and you want them posted, please let me know. I have them all in a folder and my eyes are a blur from looking, resizing, and posting madly the last couple of days! All great pics and all good times:-)

Again, Boom and Guy are wonderful people and hosts. It was so good to get together with them again. Can't wait for the next time for the next get together:-) SF maybe? Now that we have dry suits, we would actually dive that far North:-)

I know everyone would like to head north next time, but I'm already offering up my pirate house for the next mini meet. If I could post pics on here which my 'puter won't allow me to do...I swear it won't let me....I would post my pirate pics. The TV show, Monster House on Discovery Channel (now cancelled)did an extreme makeover on my house last year. I have a full size pirate shipwreck/bar in the back yard along with a giant skull jacuzzi! And the inside of my den looks like a Captain's quarters on a ship with the flat screen plasma rising up out of a giant pirate chest! If someone wants to post the pics for me, or wants me to email them the pics to see, just let me know..it looks AWESOME!

GH, I already sent you all my pics from the meet. I'm the one that sent you the pic of the BT sign with the flamingo next to it. It's cute, post it please!

I just now took the time to read this thread. I LOVE the pictures and it looks like you all had a great time. I love all the stories.

Cynde, there are no words for those lips. You are too funny!

Mercy, I have to see those pictures of your house! That sounds really cool!!

Kittygrass (am I going too far?), thank you for all your postings of pics. If I get three extra minutes, I swear I'll learn to do it myself. I still have some good pics from Friday night, but you've outdone yourself being our posting center. I'll have to work on it.
SF would work, or maybe Monterey? There are lots of things to do in SF, but no diving. If we met in Monterey, we could drag Babs back into the Pacific and MAKE her have a good time!
But I'd love to see the Monster Pirate House too! I am addicted to those makeover shows (bawl when they show the little crippled kid his new bedroom) and always wondered if they were livable at the end.
Gosh, we may have the makings of at least two future meeets...what have we started?
Boom, they stole your flamingos? Beyond evil!

MERCY - I LOVED that show and SWEAR I remember that episode. Now I'll have to go on-line and find it. I also loved the disco one they did, the western saloon, the mad scientist, the dinosaurs, the racing house. Yep, I watched that show.

VERY COOL!

Boom - I actually used to like SPAM too. But I don't think my tummy can handle that now. Pork is on the no eat list (bad run in this week with grilled pork) so I don't think it is going to cut it anymore. And hubby is from UK. He cracks up about the SPAM stuff too.

I'm tellin' ya' - if you have it at Mercy's house I'm there baby. AARGH!
