I’ve been a BT lurker long enough. This was my sixth trip to Bonaire. My two nieces (12 and 14) and I stayed at Buddy Dive for the second year in a row. I can’t say enough as to how well Buddy’s suits my expectations regarding a dive trip. It is a great location with an excellent dive operation and such a friendly and helpful staff. That being said, let’s get on with the dive report! We did fourteen boat dives and several dives on Buddy’s reef. Most boat dives were to the north like Karpata, Bloodlet, Small wall, etc. All were great dives. The dive-masters were fantastic and the visibility was good for most of our dives. We dove Klein Bonaire several times too. I don’t think there is a bad site on all of Bonaire (except where Lenny hit). We dove the Hooker and were fortunate enough to see a large pod of dolphins on the way back. The boats circled around them and we watched them play and jump in the wake. The day before on our way back from Jeff Memorial, we actually jumped in the water with the same group of dolphins and watched them up close. You could almost touch them (if your arms were 10 feet long) and listen to them talk. What a blast. There were probably fifty or so in the pod. They looked like gray bottle nosed dolphins but their bodies were only three or four feet long and their noses were fairly long and skinny. We saw the usual lot of fish along with seahorses, frogfish, eels, and scorpion fish. I took a few good photos with my Sony P1 but saw no octopus this time so, I guess I’ll have to go back this October!! (Already planned). As usual the food was great everywhere. Even the meals you can get in the US seem to taste better in Bonaire. I’ll try and post some of my pictures soon.

Thanks. I'm using a sony dsc p-1 in a mpk1 housing. Internal flash. It seems as long as you're close to the subject,(within 3 feet) the flash works fine. The whole thing cost around $700 US with an extra battery and memory (both are a must). Of course I doctored the pix in photoshop to bring the red color out a little, and get rid of the blue.
