Had a little free time. Looked on American website.
Looked at flights Leaving LAX July 24, return Aug 1.
There are five different fares, corresponding to different classes and different flexibility (changes and refunds) allowed.

Basic Economy $708
Main Cabin $768
Business Class $1366
Main Cabin (flexible) $3282
Business (flexible) $4082

Maybe this explains why several of us were seeing wildly different fares.

Interesting... and confusing. It doesn't say anything about the shelter in place being lifted, though. That section still says "until further notice".

Bonaire.nu just printed that the flight ban has been extended for Bonaire after it expires tomorrow, as expected. Instead of the two week intervals they have extended by in the past, this latest ban is for 30 days.

Looks like Delta is hoping to restart flights to Bonaire next month if the travel ban is lifted. As a Canadian it doesn't help me get there but for others it might be something to look into although I would not be surprised if the ban was extended again.

Interesting. Thanks. A lot of us have been focusing on when the islands will open and not so much on how will it be different. Some of the changes are improvements IMHO.

Thank you tursiops for the link to Buddy Dives new normal. Buddy's has done a great job in explaining their new normal. Our Christmas tradition for over 20 years is to go to Buddy Dive. While we are waiting to see what the future brings, we are still hopeful we will be able to celebrate the holidays at Buddys. We hadn't given much thought to needing an octopus regulator in addition to our Air2.

Hi everyone,

An update:

Bonaire has extended the flight ban from North America through September, and a friend just told me that Delta cancelled their November flight to Bonaire. The island is closing flights to and from Curacao this weekend. Flights from the Netherlands can still come in, but passengers have to fill out a health declaration and either present the results of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the flight, or if they come in without one, quarantine here on Bonaire for 14 days at their own expense.

An update on our American friends who were in the process of moving here permanently - they flew to Aruba and quarantined for 2 weeks in July, and then Bonaire closed the airspace from Aruba. However, they were able to contact the government office here and explain they had applied for Bonaire residency and had the stamp in their passport. They were permitted to fly home with other Bonaire residents from Aruba, and then they quarantined for 2 weeks here in their home. We were impressed with the precautions that were taken. They were carefully transported from the airport and were called each day to make sure they were at home. They had a daily phone health screening, and were not permitted to leave their home. Their quarantine is over now, and they are happy to be here.
