Default Marine park tags now being issued online?

Are we no longer getting tags for our BC anymore?

Good question. The online payment system doesn't ask for your address until it gets to billing, but someone at a dive shop told us we would receive them by mail. Doubtful. Has anyone else received a tag at a dive shop/hotel/Stinapa office for 2019?

We got our 2019 tags at VIP Diving in mid-May, but that was just before the on-line system went active.

I wonder if I bring my receipt to the dive shop will they give me a tag?

I never carry ID when I'm out diving. Now I have to carry a piece of paper, ID, and I have to wear a seatbelt? This all makes me sad.

We bought ours last week at Dive Friends Oasis, got a paper receipt and a BC tag same as always in the past.

Had to pay by credit card, cash not accepted. DF guy said dive operators asked gov to institute the credit card rule because of the amount of cash "laying around" with the $45 fee.

Buddy Dive doesn't have the 2019 tags. Agreed it's odd. We keep the 2D barcode paper in the car; it's not worth stealing and can always be reprinted.

Seatbelts, Meh. I can go either way on the nostalgia. Felt the same when they became mandatory in the US. Now, I can't imagine driving without them.

For the new eTags, it would be nice to see them change to 12 calendar months rather than a calendar year, it should not be a tough system modification. Those guests who come back within a 12 month period would not need to pay a second fee. Maybe one day.
