You'll need a phone to make reservations to restaurants, etc. We put the free WhatsApp app on our smartphones which allows you to call or text anywhere in the world from anywhere free when on WiFi and both parties have the app...many do on Bonaire. The place we rent includes a local cell phone. Also, some providers like A,T&T will do a pre-arranged flat daily fee for out of coverage calls, something like $10 per day.
