Thread: Candyland?

    Default Candyland?

Has anyone snorkeled Candyland recently? Is it worth the long drive? How difficult is the entry?

Very worth it, one of our favorite sites. Easy entry/exit as long as you know where to go. There is a small gap in the coral close to a large boulder, right in front of a marker pile of rocks/sticks. This is the only way through that I know of so make sure you locate it before you go in. Try to time it so that you enter between wave sets. Once you swim through it, look back so that you know what to look for when exiting. We find going to the north (to the right) once in deeper water is usually better.

Sorry, just noticed you were asking about snorkeling. Have seen people snorkeling there and at Taylor Made, but have not done it myself.

Whether snorkel of scuba it is most important that you know exactly how to exit.
There is only one to get back to shore; the pile of rocks is a good marker especially for snorkel.
Entry is between two smallish brain corals and exit is at the only break in the reef.
Bonaire shore diving made easy (available at most dive shops)gives a good description of the site.
