    Default Passport Question

Help - just noticed my passport expires in October. Leaving for Bonaire Friday will this be a problem?

Delta's site says: "In general, your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you enter a foreign country."
I think this is pretty common.
I'd bite the bullet, spend the money, and get an expedited renewal.
    For example: http://www.rushmypassport.com/.
    Good luck.

P.S. Delta checks your passport expiration when you check-in for the flight.

We flew into Bonaire on United in mid-March with passports expiring June 15. No problem. Our return tix were for the following weekend so we reasoned that no one would be concerned with expirations a couple of months off - and that's what happened. YMMV

U.S. State Department says for Bonaire:

    • PASSPORT VALIDITY:

Must be valid at least three months beyond planned period of stay

Sounds like randl was right on the edge....

Thanks for your input. Randl your situation helped get me out of panic mode until I could sort this out. So for anyone who may encounter a similar situation here is what I found out. Called United - no problem as long as your travel is completed before passport expiration date. Then spoke with immigration office at the airport in Bonaire - no problem, and can you believe this she said that a US citizen can enter Bonaire on an expired passport. So off to Bonaire on Friday!!!!

Good for you for checking it out with the officials...

You may be able to get into Bonaire with an expired passport, but I don't think you can get home again!

YOU CANNOT, I REPEAT! CANNOT ENTER BONAIRE ON AN EXPIRED PASSPORT! NO AIRLINE SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO BOARD WITH AN EXPIRED PASSORT. THE IMMIGRATION OFFICIER WHO TOLD YOU OTHERWISE IS WRONG
The expiration date rule is pretty much ignored! Michael Gaynor, Bonaire Warden for the United States Consulate, Curacao.. A
