    Default Hotel near EWR

Trying to fly from O'hare to Bonaire. Is there a reasonable hotel near the airport in Newark?

We stayed here in November (Rochester, NY to Newark to Bonaire) over a Friday night:

It probably wasn't the cheapest, but it was very nice, a 2-minute free shuttle from outside the baggage place (although we checked ours through and didn't touch it in Newark), quiet even though it's on the airport property, and lots of pilots stayed there so the shuttle ran constantly. We were annoyed at having to do this, but would do it again since it was stress-free. The long layover in Newark and then that night flight wasn't our favorite thing to do in the past anyway.

Whatever you do, DO not stay in the Days Inn Newark if you are stranded this weekend coming back home. We were stuck in Newark last weekend, along with 100s of other travelers, and it was difficult to find overnight accommodations at midnight. There are phones over by the Traveler's Aid/Help/Welcome station on the lower level at the Newark airport. Keep trying if you can't get through to the Marriott, Hampton Inn, etc. Better yet, make your reservations BEFORE you leave Bonaire; you can always cancel. The Days Inn Newark is an absolute hovel, should have been condemned and torn down years ago. Filthy carpets, hole in the bottom of the bathtub unsuccessfully camouflaged by a filthy bathmat, snow blowing in under the door, hardly any WORKING electrical outlets, rude staff...We were forced to book for 2 nights, couldn't get a flight out to Boston until Monday morning. After the first night, we checked out BEFORE the posted checkout time and hotfooted it over to the Crowne Plaza next door--they even sent their own shuttle to pick us up. Of course, the Days Inn is trying to charge us for the second night, but there is no chance of that happening. So be forewarned!!!!

I also recommend the Marriott. We have stayed there in transit and worth every penny for comfort and convenience.

That was the first place we tried, but they were full. DaysInn was a last resort, it was almost midnight and we were desperate. We would have been better off sleeping the airport, it would have been cleaner.

Stayed at Hampton Inn, Elizabeth NJ based on recommendation on BT - pleased and would stay there again if needed.
