    Default Insel Air Baggage Allowance

Hi Everyone - I see that Insel Air allows an additional bag (22lbs?) for scuba gear at no charge on the CUR-BON flight. Do we just tell them at check-in the extra bag is scuba gear, or is there something else we have to do?

    Thanks,
    Dixie

Just check them in. If they ask just state that it is SCUBA gear. I never had any issues.

    Have fun

We use the Insel flight every time we go to Bonaire. We registered with Insel as divers(gave them our C card numbers) and have never been questioned about the extra bag. We usually pack a few dive related items(skins, rash guard, or anything really) in the bag and most other stuff is not necessarily dive gear. they have never checked or questioned what was in the extra bag-they will weigh it and it will be checked.

The website states that you must tell them in advance about scuba gear. That said, we have never had a problem just showing up with it. We have, however, been asked to open the bag and show what is in it. We usually put a lot of gear into our checked bag (fins won't fit in the small bag), but there's always extra masks and skins that we pack in the "scuba" bag.
