Sue had an interesting idea use a piece of granite from NH for the bench (lots of symbolism), something along this line.

    Just a thought.

Great idea..and I love the symbolism.....but that is a very heavy item to get from NH to BON.
I was wondering if using the local skills to build a bench along the lines of the slave huts.
We were housesitting for Jake and Linda at the new house (2004ish) when the workers were laying the new driveway using the local calicium rich cement
I learned alot about island cements....good stuff if you have ancient coral reef as aggregate
The slave huts have been around a long while.
    Just thinking.
    Maybe something with a J shaped arch/bench....actually a J and L back to back.

I was told a while ago that there is a craftsman on island so hopefully no shipping....

maybe a piece of granite can be engraved and set into the bench when it's built. if a local craftsman is going to mix concrete for the bench, a granite plaque could be set in it then. and a smaller piece of granite would be easier to get to bonaire but still maintain the symbolism

There is a local named Eky (or Ecky) Allee - he was Jake's "go to" guy on the island for fixing things, projects, etc. Maybe someone can contact him for some ideas? He has a website, I think it's www.Bonhandyman.com. In addition, he is a very very nice man. Just throwing that out! Also, Wally, I love the J and L bench, great idea!

I will get getting my paypal money sent shortly!
