and as of this morning only flooded once.
The devil is, as it always is, in the details.
Totally my fault for not following my own pre-dive procedure.
A hard lesson learned but one I will surely remember.
The camera was rinsed and now resides in a bag of rice.
We shall see.

Sorry to hear about your camera flooding, especially after you were so excited about the great results. Hopefully the rinsing and rice help. Which of your pre-dive procedures did you fail to follow?

While this may be somewhat like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted, did you have equipment/flood insurance? One plan is available through DAN at fairly reasonable cost although it has a deductible for floods of 10% of the loss or $250 whichever is greater. May not be worth it for a camera with a retail value of about $450 - $550 but... Might be a better trade if the housing was also damaged.

The housing is fine, the operator of same not so much.
I neglected to check that the latch was fully secured.
No insurance due to the deductible, $450 to replace.

Generally with salt water the camera is toast. One other option to try is a bath in alcohol, I did bring one back from the dead with that.

Sorry to hear this been there done that a couple three times.

I dive with a waterproof camera now and that has saved me once so far.
