• BT2 Easy "Cheat Sheet" to get you going quick

After finally getting a moment to actually delve into BT2, with CBs help, I've learnt a few quick tips I'd like to share.

For our new (old BT1 users, you know who you are), how to register:
1. Go here: http://www.bonairetalk.com/forums/register.php
2. After reading the TOS (terms of service) Click the box:I have read, and agree to abide by the BonaireTalk rules.
3. Fill in the registration form.
4. At the bottom, click on "complete registration."
5. Go to your email to find an email from BT to activate/verify your account.
6. Click on the URL/link in the email to activate/verify your account.
7. Go back to Bonaire Talk.
8. Wait for BT Admin to accept your email verification (this should happen within an hour/6hours if after midnight, you will get an email to confirm this) you can then start posting.

Easy Viewing Tips and Profile Pics
1. At the top left of the page, you will see "User CP."
2. On this page, on the left "rail" aka left side of the page you can set up your profile, add your avatar, picture, information, etc.
3. To view 40 posts on a thread at a time, "User CP" on the left in the blue strip, under "Settings and Options."
5. Click on "Edit Options."
6. Scroll down to "Thread Display Options.
7. Go to "Number of Posts per Page."
8. The default will be showing in the box "Use Forum Default."
9. Click on that box and choose "Show 40 posts per page."
10. Scroll to the bottom and click "Save Changes."

By what I can tell, you have to do change the posts per page each time you log on. I may be wrong, but that's what I had to do today.

Posting Pictures or GIFs - if you want to save to your computer
1. To post a thumbnail (small picture to click on for a larger picture), save the picture you want to post on our computer.
2. At the top of the posting box, click on the "paper clip."
3. Click on either "Upload File from your Computer: Browse" or "Upload File from a URL."
6. If you click browse, find the picture on your computer and click "Upload."
7. Top right, click "Close Window"
8. Go back to your post and click on the "paperclip" again.
9. A box that says "Manage Attachments" will popup.
10. Your image should be just below this. Click on your image name.
11. You will see something like this: [ ATTACH]657[ /ATTACH] - note, no spaces will appear between the brackets and letters.
12. Continue with your post as usual. Image should appear in your post.

Posting Pictures or GIFs - if you want to "copy the url" and not save to your computer
1. Find the picture you want to post from the net (make sure it is not a copyright photo)
2. Right click on the image.
3. Click on either "copy image location" or "copy url" different browsers will have different language.
4. Go back to the "text box" (where you type the text for your post)
Click on the "mountain" picture just above your posting box. Delete the "http://" and paste the link you just copied into that space.
12. Click "ok"
13. Your image should show in the thread. Like this:
14.

To create an album on BT2 and post pics from an album
1. Click on your name in the upper right hand corner of this page.
2. Click on "Albums" or Pictures" or whatever looks sensible relative to this.
3. Click on "create album or add album."
4. You will then be prompted to name the album.
5. Click on "Upload Pictures" in blue at the bottom, or top.
6. You'll get a bunch of URL boxes. Click "Browse," and find the pic wherever you have saved it.
7. Click "Upload Photos" at the bottom of the page.
8. Then click "Save changes"
9. Click on the picture in the album you want to post in the thread.
10. Just below your picture, you will see "Picture URL" and a white box below it has a link. Copy the link in the white box (here is an example of the link in the white box).

11. Go to the thread you want to post the pic. Click on the "mountain" picture just above your posting box. Delete the "http://" and paste the link you just copied into that space.
12. Click "ok"
13. Your image should show in the thread. Like this:
14.

To post a video from youtube
1. Go to youtube and find your video.
2. Copy the letters and numbers after the equal sign "=" in the url.
3. In your text box, type [ youtube]letters and numbers after the equal sign "=" in the url[ /youtube] - note, there are no spaces between the brackets and the letters.
4. Preview, the video should appear in our post.

Please feel free to add to this thread!

Glad you like it Carole.

BTW, if you post a pic from a BT2 Album, it will post the big pic, not the thumbnail.

Moved to Test Area & made it sticky!

Hi Cynde, et al...

I moved this thread to the Test Area and made it sticky to keep it at the top of the Sub-forum ( it was slowly slipping down the page and I don't think it would have been quite right to have it stuck to the top of CC)

Thanks for the Tips!

Thanks so much Cynde! I found your "Easy Viewing Tips" especially helpful since I wanted to see the oldest post at the top like BT1 and also being able to see 40 posts per page is more to my liking as well.

CB, did add a section on how to post a pic by copying the "url" or image "location" to the list. Kiwi taught me that one...tee hee!

hugs and ****...

Say, I thought I'd mention that you can post a pic from online just by right clicking on it, selecting "copy image location", and pasting it into the little mountain box. You guys probably already knew that....
