Things are opening up on Bonaire

Hi Everyone,

Happy news for a change. After our governor indicated easing of restrictions, the schools will be reopened May 11 and restaurants are beginning to re-open.

This morning we went to Dash Kitchen food truck, which reopened this weekend, for breakfast. We saw a number of friends we haven’t seen in the past month while we were all staying home. We then met a friend for a late lunch at Foodies restaurant near Lac Bay.

We and some of our friends had a list of of projects we hoped to do to our homes or things to buy eventually, and we decided to do them now to help support the island economy. We’re noticing others doing the same thing, seeing a lot of freshly painted houses, landscaping projects, and renovations. We’re even seeing road work!

Hi Kate,

Thank you for the update. It is very nice for the folks on Bonaire to see things starting to return back to normal. I still expect it will be a while before foreign travel is once again opened up,.........perhaps even a long while 😕. But in our hearts we stay positive, and once the borders are open we will catch a flight down just as soon as we can. Stay Safe
