  • Best books for learning Papiamentu

Long time resident Xiomara Frans-Muller has released Papia Papiamentu Ku Mi (Speak Papiamentu With Me). These books are subtitled Crash Course 1 & 2 and are designed for quick learning of the language. Xiomara should know as she was chosen by the Dutch government to teach the language to incoming government workers from the Netherlands. Wonderfully illustrated and straight forward, Papia Papiamentu Ku Mi is a great aid in learning the local language. You can find the books at Addo's Bookstore, but make sure to ask for the English version as Dutch and Spanish versions also exist. Upon completing the 'crash courses', Ms. Frans-Muller also teaches private classes to groups or individuals.
