Won a trip to Bonaire-well the accomondations -we pay for our flight---it is timeshares -- called Back to the Caribbean -- 8 days and 7 nights at these choices: Yacht Club Apartments; Lagoon Hill Bonaire; Residence Windsock Apartments; Seaside Vacation Club Playa Lechi & Hamlet Bonairer--they would not send us the information until we put on cc $518 -- I told them if I did not like I wanted my money back -- told her my husband and I usually take trips with about 6 other couples to a all inclusive resort and we party the entire time -- we do not dive --- Is this a place for us to go??? Please help me -- I'm thinking by the time we get flight tickets and the extras we will have to pay in Bonair -- it would be way more then an all inclusive package --- we live in Iowa......... help me ---

I would be very leary about paying and not having the information first. Airfare to Bonaire is expensive, but worth it. You could easily spend $1000.00 Rt or more. It's an awesome place for snorkeling and site seeing if you do not dive. go to WWW.infobonaire.com for lots of info regarding the island, then you can make a choice. We love Bonaire and have been going for over 20 years. It is not for everyone. Hope it works out for you.

Bobbi Jo..I'd be real cautious..Sounds to me like a "shark attack"..Additionally, intuitively I suspect Bonaire may not really be the island for you.."Party Central" for the week, it's not! The places you have identified appear to be on the quiet side. The Seaside club in playa lechi is right in town, but unequivocally Bonaire ain't no Cancun, Cozumel or Jamaica which I suspect may be more suited to your taste. So just because you won something doesn't mean it's the right thing for you.

As far as I know, there are no "All Inclusive" vacations in Bonaire. It is not the party island like Jamaica or Aruba. Be very leary of what you are getting. You can get condos at DIVI DIVI and other places in walking distance to downtown. Check it out before you commit.

If you are a timeshare vacation winner, I can tell you that Hamlet Bonaire is not up for time sharing. I am not sure about the other 4 locations.

We did the same thing in Grand Cayman. Bought the identical trip. We are staying at Hamlet Bonaire, will be there July 15-22. I am most definitely posting a trip report on return so watch for it. I am going to investigate the other locations and will post that as well. I asked about Hamlet and was told in a thread further down that it was nice so we are happy so far. But will let you know.

By the way, to all the other poster here, this trip was legit. Have talked to the Hamlet and they are ready for us. They did not mention anything about the timeshare deal and we had assumed we had to listen to some sales pitch but we will see. I feel it was a good deal for just $520. We are flying free with AmEx points so it seems to be great. Again, reserving my opinion until the trip is over and post my report.

See my post of a few minutes ago under the thread "Treasured getaways? won a trip!?". Suspect this is offered by the same (or a similar) group.

Bobbi here from original note -- This offer was to go to Bonaire or Grand Cayman -- the Grand Caymen locations look like Grand Caymanian; Coral Sands, Hamama Coral by Hilton -- Boca Chica Bay)and Marian Coral By Hilton -- so do any of you have input on any of the above -- Sounds like Bonaire would be too quiet and since we do not dive;scruba;snorkel; don't like quiet resorts; like the nightlife/entertainment. I appreciate all responses - At least I know this is a real deal and not a scam :-)

Bobbi Jo, don't know about any of the Grand Cayman places. But it does sound like Bonaire is not for you. It is definitely not a party island.

You may want to try this chat board and ask the Cayman island questions.

Good luck!

Dr. Director, I was thinking the same thing. A little worriesome if you know what I mean!

Bobbie Joe: Sounds like you guys need a trip to Cozumel or CanCun not Bonaire. IF you don't dive try booking a trip to Aruba. That is also on their list and has casinos and beaches to party on.

Bobbi...I've been to Grand Cayman on numerous locations. I'd take one of the hotel deals on 7 mile beach there if I were you. You'll get plenty of nightlife ..Unfortunately I have not stayed at any of the resorts you listed for GC.
